Sunridge Middle School/Pendleton School District was recently named Employer of the Year by The Arc Oregon. This award is given by The Arc Oregon to an individual or business that has employed people with I/DD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) for a minimum of one year and has promoted the independence, integration and/or community participation of the employee(s).
Sunridge was nominated by Eric Virgil, who has worked at the school as a custodian since May 2017.
"Eric does a great job with his work and he's part of our Sunridge family. The decision to hire and employ Eric was easy -- he's proven that he's more than capable to do the job. We’re really happy to have Eric in our building,” said Dave Williams, principal of Sunridge.
Representatives of the school district attended The Arc Oregon statewide conference in early May to receive the award.
“It's very humbling to receive the award as I'm sure there are many other deserving employers around our state,” said Williams.
