Elementary Transition from CDL to Hybrid

I am happy to announce that the Pendleton School District will begin the transition from Comprehensive Distance Learning to the Hybrid model beginning on Monday, February 22nd.  Since my last update last Tuesday, Elementary Reopening Plan Update, we have upgraded our plans, and we will move Grades K-5 to a Hybrid model, which means students will be onsite for in-person instruction part-time each day and continue working the remainder of the day remotely.  As they have been throughout CDL, elementary students will be assigned to either a morning or afternoon cohort.  Safely returning students to school will require cohorting, social distancing, use of face coverings, frequent washing of hands, and those who are sick or exhibiting symptoms of COVID to remain home.

General guidelines include:

  • Every attempt will be made to keep students from the same household on the same schedule.
  • Students will be screened prior to entering the school building.
  • Students will report directly to their classroom.  The morning cohorts will eat breakfast in their classroom prior to beginning the instructional day.  The afternoon cohorts will report directly to their classrooms and will be served a lunch.
  • The morning cohort will officially start at 8:15, and students will be dismissed at 10:45 am.  The afternoon cohort will officially start at 12:30 pm and dismissed at 3 pm.
  • At dismissal, morning students will receive a lunch and supper to take home.  When dismissed, afternoon students will receive a supper and breakfast for the following morning.
  • When not on site, students will have assignments and tasks to complete remotely using their school issued Chromebooks.
  • Between now and the 22nd, each elementary school will be finalizing their plans and ensuring the safe return of students to our buildings.
  • MidCo is currently developing bus routes based on our current information and will be contacting families directly regarding bus stops, pick up and drop off times.

The district intends to maintain this model through March 19th.  During this time, we will monitor and assess the impacts of the protocols implemented to prevent the exposure and spread of the virus within our schools.  Should our local and county COVID case rates continue to drop, and we can demonstrate the ability to limit exposure and spread of the virus within our buildings, our plan would return all K-5 students back to school full-time after spring break. (See attached outline below)

Each elementary school will be communicating directly with their families the specifics for our K-5 students’ return on the 22nd.  Updated information will be sent home via mail, school messenger and posted on our websites and social media.

In the next few weeks, we plan to release a hybrid plan for the return of our secondary students.  As those plans are finalized, we will be sharing those with families.

Respectfully,
Chris Fritsch

(Ver
esquema adjunto a continuación)

Respetuosamente,
Chris Fritsch
